Position Summary Oversees the design, development, monitoring and maintenance
of all Alion Corporate databases through professional staff. Responsible for
ensuring end-to-end support, administration and configuration management of
databases and servers. Manages the administration and maintenance of the
PeopleSoft HRMS system and all underlying systems. Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees all PeopleSoft initiatives from conception to implementation to
ensure accurate testing and proper documentation. Responsible for upgrading
databases and implementing new backup and recovery procedures. Supports all
major PeopleSoft activities for Human Resources staff (i.e. Open Enrollment,
Appraisal, Salary Administration). Oversees the design, development and
implementation of the Alion Data Warehouse (ADW) initiative. Ensures the ADW
is functioning properly on a daily basis and the integration of all corporate
system data. Ensures technical support is provided to all line organizations
for database issues and projects. Manages the testing of all disaster recovery
procedures during production failures, to recover all data with minimal
service interruption to Alion personnel. Assists the CIO in the proposal,
planning and implementation of all Corporate-wide IT initiatives. Provides
support and technical expertise in the effort of compliance for all Alion
Auditing initiatives, specifically Sarbanes-Oxley. Supports business
development activities as required. Selects, trains, mentors and supervises
staff. JITC & ATEC experience preferred. Applicants must hold at least a
secret clearance and eligible to obtain a TS clearance after employment.
Education and Experience Bachelor¿s degree in related discipline plus at least
5 years of directly related experience including supervisory/management
experience. Some project management experience required. Prior supervisory or
management experience preferred. In some cases, educational requirements may
be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience. Work
experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely
applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market
shortages as reflected by market survey data. Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills.
Strong Microsoft Office and database management skills. Knowledge of
relational principles, DBA techniques and practices, as well as the ability to
understand extremely complicated relationships dictated by the data schema.
Knowledge of the following technologies: Oracle ¿ Administration, performance
tuning, high availability, and PL/SQL SQL Server - Transact SQL (authoring
procs, type of parameters, use of functions, error handling, transaction
statement, table variables and SQL - DB Design, identity columns,
relationships, indexes, triggers and constraints.
