Job Description
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works cooperatively with physicians, other nurse practitioners/physician assistants, registered nurses and other allied health personnel. Responsibilities also include giving direction to various allied health staff. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient’s age-specific needs is required. Tasks may include: comprehensive assessment, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a diagnostic impression, developing and implementing a treatment plan, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, prescription of pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies, and offering counseling and education to meet patient needs. This position will consist of the following: at least 50% of days are hospital-based and the ability to see direct and/or specs independently.
Basic Qualifications:
For N.P.'s: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current RN license, Advanced Practice Certificate, and Prescribing and Dispensing Certificate in Arizona. Certification as nurse practitioner by an approved certifying organization. For P.A.'s: Graduation from a university program approved by the ARCE for the Physician Assistant. Must be certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Must have Arizona licensure as a Physician Assistant under the supervision of a Mayo Clinic physician upon hire.
Other Qualifications:

Candidates must have BMT experience as this is an inpatient position. Hematology and Medical Oncology experience preferred. Two to five years of clinical experience preferred. Primary care, acute care, and/or surgical experience preferred.
Demonstrated leadership ability. Flexible and able to adjust schedule to meet patient/staff needs. Able to manage time and stress effectively, and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills preferred.
License or Certification:
For Both: Maintains DEA certificate and prescribing and dispensing privileges in Arizona. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required on hire. Maintains specialty certifications as required for specific areas.

Compensation Detail:Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every two weeks is approximately $3,478.40, based on a full-time position.
