LOCATION: Arizona, Phoenix

Position Purpose:

TheFinance Manager – PetSmartis responsible for providing financial direction & leadership related to the PetSmart Customer Development Team (CDT). This is accomplished by leveraging financial analysis in order to enhance demand through PetSmart in a cost-effective way by managing the Customer(s) P&L, managing trade spend, and providing financial analysis to understand business trends and recommend actionable insights. In addition, the Financial Manager is responsible for understanding the Customer(s) financial approach to the business and Joint Business Planning. This requires working collaboratively with other CDT members as well as externally with the customer.

Let's talk about responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in account planning and business reviews by evaluating promotional plans (pre and post). Recommend profitable business building programs. Identify risk and opportunities, communicating the financial impact to the Customer Development Team and to Corporate Finance.

  • Develops insights and recommendations based on data and analytics in conjunction with team members based on all available data sources, to include Nielsen data, BW, POS and shopper data.

  • Proactively control on a day to day basis all trade-related spending for the PetSmart account, including gross-to-net, media, shopper, and consumer promotion.

  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements and manage the monthly closing process and reporting in order to ensure integrity of financial reporting and accurate variance explanations.

  • Manage external Joint Business Planning and Customer terms negotiations process in conjunction with CDT members to ensure realistic forecasting, monitoring of business performance, and reporting fo Retail Sales and Trade investment in customer's language and fiscal periods.

  • Manage the CDT budgets and planning process, gaining alignment with the CDT and coordinate with Corporate Finance to deliver targets. Ensure integrity of data in all related systems.

  • Develop Customer P&L’s for financial estimates, annual budgets and trade analytics for the PetSmart account.

  • Analyze and recommend methods to improve GTN effectiveness and ensure integrity of data and proper cost allocations.

Basic qualifications include:

  • 5+ year’s relevant Accounting/Financial experience including support of a commercial team

  • Bachelor's degree; Accounting/Finance concentration

  • CPG experience

  • Strong Excel skills

  • CPA/MBA Preferred.
