Position Summary:

The Clinic Manager at Walgreens Healthcare Clinicis a clinical and business leader with management responsibility for assigned clinics. Responsible for the overall operations in the clinic(s) with the priorities of developing and coaching providers and support staff for career growth and high performance, supervising colleagues to ensure quality care and patient engagement metrics are achieved, and driving financial results and profitability. Focuses on assessing educational/training needs and practice development while committing to work in the clinics regularly as a staff Provider. The Clinic Manager is an experienced clinical leader with exceptional communication and management skills who is committed to the highest level of patient care and business success. Working with the Market Manager to partner with Walgreens Store & Pharmacy Leadership to drive patient volume and financial performance.

Clinic Operation Excellence:

Position Qualifications:

Analyzes the patient volume and scheduling needs to determine need for additional HCT’s or Providers. Partners with Market Manager in directing Talent Acquisition Partner (TAP) on postings and clinic requirements needed (i.e. schedule requirements, hour requirements, clinic pairing, etc.). Conducts interviews, makes selection decision and employment offers. Works with Market Educator to determine educational needs of new hires and assist in market orientation.

Identifies clinical competency gaps with providers and identify the training needed to bridge competency gap by working with Market educator (ME) to create a developmental plan. Monitors compliance reporting to ensure that direct reports meet compliance guidelines for operational metrics (i.e. Health stream, HEDIS, etc.). Delivers counseling or other discipline to colleagues who fail to complete compliance requirements.

Administers the Performance, Development and Coaching (PDC) process in order to identify developmental needs of staff. Creates and delivers action plan for behavioral/competency improvements. Offers guidance on setting goals, approves provider and support staff goals, and monitors goal attainment. Completes mid-year and year-end reviews and assigns overall colleague evaluation rating. Develops and attains colleague engagement market action plans.

Supports staff and providers in two to three clinics (approx. 6-8 direct reports). Administers corrective action under the progressive corrective action process. Has hire/fire authority with proper consultation with market leadership and HR.

Markets the clinic to internal customers and patients. Develops relationships with WAG counterparts to support clinic attainment of budget goals. Drives accountability for clinic(s) financial commitment, ie; payroll, supply ordering, patient volume.

Partners with WAG to inform them of clinic updates, develops action plans to drive patient volume and clinic metrics. Participates in all required calls and meetings.

Monitors rotational calls and meetings. Makes decisions on staffing needs related to clinic volume. Works to keep the clinics open for all hours of operation.

Ensures clinic compliance to all clinic standard operating procedures, adherence to scope of practice, clinic cleanliness and appearance standards. Ensures clinic compliance to federal, state, local and all accreditation requirements. Escalates issue to Market Manager as needed. Identifies and resolves quality issues in supervised clinics under the direction of the Market Manager. Ensures consistency and adherence to clinical and operations policies in supervised clinics. Average work hours are 30 or 35 hours a week in the clinic as a provider.


Licensure requirement for NPs:

  • Valid Advanced Practice State License issued by the State Board of Nursing.

  • Valid accreditation from the AANP or ANCC as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

  • At least (6) months of family nurse practitioner clinical experience. Experience with pediatric patients (18 months and older).

  • Valid Prescriptive Authority (per state practice requirements).

  • Meet and maintain all legal requirements per state and national statutes to practice within state (for your market) as a family nurse practitioner.

  • Current CPR Certification.

Licensure requirements for PAs:

  • Physician Assistant License

  • State Board of Pharmacy Prescribing License

  • Current NCCPA certification

  • Degree from ARC-PA accredited program

Current CPR certification for health care providers

Federal DEA license and/or state controlled substance license, if applicable

Current Certification in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for medical provider

Current CPR Certification

At least 1 year of clinical practice as an FNP or PA, preferably in acute setting, ER, Urgent Care, member of QA committee, Infection Control committee

Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.

Experience with utilizing electronic medical records and information systems.

Knowledgeable about billing and coding

Knowledgeable of operating in a AAAHC accredited environment

Experience with MS Office Suite

Basic email skills, internet explorer (sending, receiving, and organizing communications).

Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
